Glenna Farms was established in 1995 when Rick & Kristine Glenna decided to purchase an 80 acre maple syrup operation from Arthur V. Olson. The century old sugar bush located next to the dairy farm (also purchased from Mr. Olson; now owned by Rick’s parents) was well known for producing one of nature’s finest sweeteners, Pure Maple Syrup.

In the beginning, Rick, Kristine and several family members would venture out on weekends in the spring and cut wood, hang buckets, boil sap and make syrup. The syrup was then sold from the dairy farm, as it had been for several years prior.

Over the years, the hobby grew as Rick couldn’t resist the temptation of modernizing. Plastic tubing was hung to collect sap, the evaporator was converted from wood to oil to speed up production, equipment was purchased, new buildings were built, etc. With the "hobby" in growth mode and a corporate job in downtown Minneapolis, time was at a premium! So, in March, 2001 Rick retired from the corporate life at the age of 36 and began managing Glenna Farms on a full time basis. What a great hobby!!

Today, Glenna Farms provides gift packaging for several corporate clients, operates a retail store and hosts several annual events each year. Even though we have grown, we still pursue our "hobby" with great passion and enthusiasm and look forward to seeing you soon!
